Association of Research Libraries: Washington, DC

Technical Applications Development Manager — October 2001 - March 2006

I was brought in to take the LibQUAL+™ project (www.libqual.org) from a rough pilot to a worldwide effort to measure library service quality. The core of the project is an extensively researched web survey administered to library users. To date, some 500,000 people have completed the survey in six languages at 700 libraries. The majority of my work has involved creating administration and reporting tools that have turned a research project into a friendly but powerful turn-key solution for libraries.

Technologies used include fully object-oriented ColdFusion, advanced database structures and programming in MS SQL Server, SPSS, Crystal Reports, CSS, XML, ASP.NET, AJAX, and web services. I also did the graphic design work for the project.

Independently, I have built projects in ASP.NET with MySQL to improve my skills with these products.

Doceus, Inc: Washington, DC

Lead Developer — March 2000 - October 2001

My duties as Lead Developer encompassed meeting with clients to plan their online projects, creating technical specifications for their vision, planning and building the database systems they would use, managing a team of developers implementing my specifications, and programming many parts of the sites myself. I took $750,000-projects from idea, to paper, to successful launch. I worked extensively on the Associant product line, an online application for managing all aspects of conference planning and registration.

Georgetown University Law Center: Washington, DC

Web Technical Coordinator — September 1999 - March 2000

Design projects included streamlined site navigation and page templates, RealAudio and RealVideo production and serving, ColdFusion-based interactive pages, and a site-wide search engine. The position required diverse skills and a typical day might have included planning a department's web site revision with faculty and staff, digitizing video for online delivery, planning and constructing a new database for the Web, analyzing web access logs, checking for and repairing possible security holes on the web servers, and designing a new logo for a division of the Law Center.
