Another Failed Fire

Sigh. I thought I would get it this time. It is the perfect evening for a fire: cold, windy, with snow or something like it in the forecast. I doubled the number of firestarter sticks, added several sheets of newspaper, and built the whole thing up into a little pyramid. It flamed nicely for about 20 minutes until the kindling was burned out, then died completely after charring the outside of my logs. I'm back to the trusty Javalog now and thinking unfavorable things about Estonia's forests.

hIt does sound as if there is something the matter with the logs. Maybe no one in Estonia wanted them. How sad. You can light a fire when you are here and see how it goes. That might bolster your confidence. We have one going now. The kitties are afraid of the sizzle and pop, but the baby kitty, GInger, overcomes that now that she has realized it is a source of warmth.

I hope you didn't invest too much in the Estonia logs. Maybe you can try something like what the seller of begonias did in Baltimore. Maybe blackened logs from Estonia would bring a nice price.

By the way, I am so gald you have that condo. You reallty enjoy it. It was a comforgtable place to be.
